Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Searchly is a search app for Roku TVs. This policy explains what information the app and its servers handle, why, and what choices you have. It applies to the Searchly channel on Roku.
In this policy, "Searchly", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs the Searchly channel. You can reach us through the support details shown on the Searchly page in the Roku Channel Store.
What we handle
- Your searches and questions. What you type or speak is sent to our server so we can get results. If you use the voice button, Roku turns your speech into text and we receive the text. Your search words are passed to our search provider (Serper) and, for AI answers, to our AI provider (DeepSeek) together with the titles and snippets of search results.
- Pages you open in reader mode. Our server fetches the page and extracts its text. If you choose AI summary, that text is sent to our AI provider to create the summary.
- Device information. A channel identifier that Roku provides to Searchly (it is specific to this channel and is not your name or email), the device model, system version, language and country. We use it to run the service, limit abuse and understand how the app is used.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to count things like which screens are opened, which features are used, errors, whether the user has the free or Premium plan, and the words searched. In Kids mode we do not send what was searched.
- Server logs. Our server records technical details of each request, such as time, IP address and the requested address, which includes search words. These logs are rotated automatically and kept only for a short time.
- Subscriptions. Payments are handled by Roku. We never see your payment card. We receive only whether a subscription is active and when it ends.
What stays on your TV
The app stores on your device: your recent searches, the Kids mode setting and your PIN, how many free searches you have used, and your subscription status. You can remove this by uninstalling the channel.
What we do not do
- No account or sign-up is needed.
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not collect your contacts or precise location.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that make Searchly work: Roku (the platform and payments), Serper (search results), DeepSeek (AI answers and summaries), Google Analytics (usage statistics) and our hosting provider (our servers are in the European Union). These providers may process data in other countries. We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: rotated automatically after a few days.
- Analytics: kept according to our Google Analytics retention setting.
- Data on your TV: until you clear it or uninstall the channel.
Children and Kids mode
Searchly is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. Kids mode, which is protected by a PIN, hides adult results, suggestions and trending topics. It reduces adult content but cannot block everything. In Kids mode, search words are still sent to our search and AI providers to produce results, but we do not send them to analytics.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada or Australia), you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to certain uses. Because we do not know who you are, most information we hold is linked only to a channel identifier. To make a request, contact us through the support details on the Searchly page in the Roku Channel Store and tell us what you need.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. We limit access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above.
